How to add a tenant and send a WhatsApp onboarding invite

In short

To onboard a tenant, a landlord adds the tenant to a unit, sets the lease terms (rent, deposit, society charges, electricity rate, and billing cycle), and sends a secure WhatsApp invite link. The terms stay pending until the tenant completes onboarding, then the lease locks in — no forms or paperwork.

Why onboard this way

Getting a new tenant set up usually means chasing documents and re-explaining the rent, deposit, and charges. RentStalk turns it into one flow: you enter the tenant and lease terms once, send a secure WhatsApp link, and the tenant confirms — so both sides start on the same page.

When you'd use this

A new tenant is moving in

You've agreed the rent and deposit. You add the tenant to the unit, set the terms, and send the invite so they're onboarded before move-in.

You want terms agreed upfront

Rent, deposit, society charges, and electricity rate are set when you add the tenant, so there's no confusion about what's owed later.

The invite expired

If a tenant doesn't onboard in time, you resend the invite without re-entering all the lease details.

How to add and onboard a tenant

  1. Open Add Tenant

Go to the property, open Manage Tenants, and choose Add New Tenant — or start it from the RentStalk landlord agent on WhatsApp.

  2. Enter tenant and unit details

Add the tenant's name, WhatsApp number, and unit. The number becomes their login identity, so double-check it before sending.

  3. Set the lease terms

Enter monthly rent, deposit, society charges, electricity rate, starting meter reading, and billing cycle start date. These stay pending until onboarding completes.

  4. Send the WhatsApp invite

Send the invite and the tenant gets a secure onboarding link on WhatsApp. Once they complete it, the lease locks in.
