What the landlord ranks are
Landlord ranks are RentStalk's free recognition programme for Indian landlords: as you add properties and record rent against each tenant, your account rises through five ranks — Rising, Pro, Star, Elite and Legendary Landlord. Your current rank is shown on the portfolio page you share with tenants, and every rank unlocks something further on your own account. There is no fee, no subscription and nothing to apply for.
This is the page it sits on
Your portfolio page is the link you send when someone asks what you have available. The rank sits at the top of it — so the first thing a tenant reads about you is that your rent is on record. Watch it climb.
Your properties
The ladder, rung by rung
The order matters, so it is numbered. Each rank is built on the one below it — there is no way to arrive at Star without having passed Pro, which is exactly what makes the rank worth anything to a tenant reading your page.
Rising Landlord
Your first property is on the record
Your portfolio page goes live — one web page with your properties on it and a link you can send to anyone who asks what you have available.
One property is enough. Most landlords reach this on the day they start.
Pro Landlord
Rent recorded for three tenants
Your properties start showing their photographs, so the page does the first viewing for you instead of your phone doing it twice a day.
Star Landlord
Every one of your tenants' rent is on record
A rental presence that reads as your own — your name carrying the properties, rather than a listing lost in somebody else's directory.
This is the rank most tenants notice. It says the books are complete, not partial.
Elite Landlord
You brought another landlord in, and they got started
Something leaves our side and makes its way to yours. We would rather you found out when it arrives than read about it here.
The one rank you cannot reach alone — and the only one we keep quiet about.
Legendary Landlord
Three full rent cycles, one after another
Your year read back to you in numbers — and after that, every week, a quiet note on what rent is doing in your own area.
It is a record, not a compliment
Plenty of apps hand out badges. A rank here is worth something because it cannot be bought, asked for or awarded by goodwill — it is produced by the one thing that is hard to fake, which is a complete rent record kept month after month.
- A rank only ever goes up. A tenant moving out does not take one away from you.
- Nothing about your tenants is published — no names, no numbers, no amounts. The rank speaks to your record-keeping, not to them.
- It is not a verification of you as a landlord, and the page never claims it is. RentStalk has checked your records, not your character.
- Your phone number stays off the public page, at every rank.
Starting takes one message
There is nothing to apply for and no app to install. You message the RentStalk landlord assistant on WhatsApp and it walks you through the rest in your own language.
- Say hello on WhatsAppTap the button, send the message that is already typed for you, and the landlord assistant replies. Hindi, English, Marathi, Kannada — whichever you write in.
- Add one propertyA name, a city and an area is enough to begin. Your portfolio page goes live at the first rank the moment that property is saved.
- Record the rent as it comesAdd your tenants and confirm each month's rent as you receive it. That record is the ladder — every rank above the first is built out of it.
Where this has reached
Landlord ranks are being switched on in stages across RentStalk accounts, so your rank appears on your portfolio page as the programme reaches you rather than the moment you qualify. Nothing is lost while you wait — the rent you record now is what the rank is calculated from when it arrives.
Questions landlords ask
What is the RentStalk landlord rewards programme?
It is a free five-rank ladder for landlords on RentStalk. As you add properties and record rent for your tenants, your account moves up through Rising, Pro, Star, Elite and Legendary Landlord. Your rank shows on the portfolio page you share, and each rank opens something further on your account. There is no fee and nothing to apply for.
Does it cost anything to take part?
No. There is no fee, no subscription and nothing to buy. Every rank is reached by using RentStalk the ordinary way — adding your properties and recording the rent you receive.
How do I reach the first rank?
Add one property. That is the whole requirement for Rising Landlord, and it also puts your portfolio page live. Most landlords get there within a few minutes of their first message to the WhatsApp assistant.
Can I lose a rank once I have it?
No. Ranks only ever rise. A tenant moving out, a property going vacant or a quiet month does not pull you back down — once a rank is reached it stays on your account.
Who can see my rank?
It appears on your public portfolio page, which is the page you choose to share. Anyone you send that link to sees the rank; nobody is sent it on your behalf.
What exactly do I get at each rank?
The page above names what opens at each of the five ranks. We deliberately stop short of listing every detail, and the fourth rank is left unsaid on purpose — part of what makes it worth reaching is that it arrives before you have gone looking for it.
Is any of my tenants' information made public?
No. A rank is evidence that rent is on record, and that is all it shows. Tenant names, phone numbers and the amounts they pay are never printed on a public page at any rank, and your own phone number stays off it too.
Does a high rank mean RentStalk has verified me?
No, and the page never says so. A rank is a statement about record-keeping — that rent has been recorded, completely and over time. It is not a background check, an endorsement or a guarantee about you as a landlord, and a tenant should read it as the former and not the latter.
I own one room. Is this worth anything to me?
Yes, and the ladder was written with you in mind rather than around a large portfolio. The first rank needs one property. The third needs your tenants' rent on record — which is easier with three tenants than with forty, not harder.
Your first rank is one property away
Send the message, add a property, and the portfolio page is live before you have finished your tea. Everything above it is built from rent you were going to collect anyway.
